About Mo Xuanzi
Mo Xuanzi, originally named Yan Jiaxiang, is a Tujia artist from Guizhou Province who found his passion for traditional Chinese painting as a teenager. Over a career spanning seventeen years, he has transitioned from traditional landscapes and bird-and-flower paintings to the Zen of Ink style, reflecting his philosophy that art should innovate within the tradition.
His work is deeply influenced by his hometown's nearby Fanjing
Mountain, a famous Buddhist site, even though he visited it for the first time only in 2015. Central to his paintings is a figure dressed in a vivid red robe, an image drawn from his own likeness and his fondness for martial arts. Despite being known as the "Space-Time Spiritual Painter," Yan remains humble, focusing on conveying positivity through his art.
